Who am I?
Father x3, Teacher, Eatie not a Foodie, Health and Wellness Consultant, Olympian.
Along with my wife we have decided that our family values are: Respect, Trust, Integrity. These are the guiding principles of our relationship and the relationships we grow out of our home.
Class rules/ what I expect from you:
1- Respect yourself, your classmates, me, and your classroom.
2- Be in class on time, and be doing what you are supposed to be doing. Each class starts with books open to the last thing we did.
3- Ask questions when you have them. This is how we learn and how science evolves.
4- Have a water bottle at all times.
5- During this pandemic Food will not be allowed in the classroom during instruction time. Drinks in containers will be allowed.
6- If you are late to class. Come in, take your seat, do not disturb the learning in progress.
7- If you are late or absent it is your job to come to me and to check google classroom to make sure that you are on top of what missed
What you can expect from me:
1- To make things as easy as possible to learn. By putting science in real ENGLISH/FRENCH not "science talk".
2- To make all classes I teach as fun as possible.
3- To be prepared and prompt when giving out lessons, projects, and assignments. And to give you a chance to learn where you can do better on the next piece of work you do.
4-To share my family values with you: Trust, Respect, Integrity (our class rules are based on these values).

Academic policies:
1- Plagiarism/ Academic Dishonesty is theft. Each student is expected to cite their sources on their work. You will receive one warning, then you will be referred to the administration and your parents will be notified.
2- Copying your classmates work is also plagiarism/ academic dishonesty.
3- Achievement levels (see grading page above) will be communicated on each assignment with areas to improve, it is your responsibility to take action on the areas of improvement if you want to grow your understanding of the material or the skill being taught.
Late Assignments:
1- As assignments are directly linked to the learning objectives set forth by the Ministry of Education ALL ASSIGNMENTS MUST BE SUBMITTED. It is the only way for us to prove that we covered the material.
2- Assignments that are received late will be reviewed for completion and understanding of the topic covered. You will never lose marks for an assignment being late. It will be noted that it was submitted late to help guide the work habit process. This does not penalize you as it will not reduce your grade. It may not receive the same level of feedback as per normal, but FLEX time conferences can take place.
3- It is the STUDENTS AND PARENTS responsibility to keep track of late or missing assignments on google classroom. And to frequently review assignments after they are submitted.
4- Do not expect late work to be put into priority ahead of work that was done on time. If you complete an assignment late it will be reviewed as soon as possible.
Technology:
1- I strive to give students access to the most up to date information and real world applications of technology that is accessible today. As such phones, tablets or computers are used in nearly every class. For this to work students are given trust that they are using their tech appropriately. Please consider bringing your own tablet or computer to class.
2- Students are expected to leave their phones alone until they are either done their work, or are asked to start using their phones.
3- Students that need to be reminded more than once about appropriate use of technology (being on social media etc) will surrender their phones for the remainder of the class. Subsequent losses of phones may require parents to pick up their students phone from the office administration or myself. Using technology in class is a privilege not a right.
4- Headphones are not allowed to be used except for under explicit permission given by me. Please contact me if you would like to discuss a plan for your student.
5- I have personally purchased several tablets for the classroom for individuals who do not have their own devices. They have access to google classroom and to a google chrome. If you are unable to provide your own device please see me to be assigned a device for class use.
Accommodations:
If you are in need of accommodations please reach out to me. There is nothing worse than someone telling me afterwords about support they need. I am also available every other day in session 3 for you to come in.
