Grades: Now called feedback
Feedback will be posted to each submitted assignment on Google Classroom as soon as possible. This feedback will help you understand where you are succeeding or missing information, quality of research, formatting, etc. To achieve mastery of a subject you must practice that skill until you reach mastery. This means being involved in your progress. It is not enough to just submit your work and get a grade. We are now working together to see how good you can get at something with repeated tries. It's like editing an essay, or learning how to kick a ball. You try, I show you where you can improve, you make the changes and learn, then when you do it again you see if you do better on the next round. Your final grade is based on the highest level of achievement that you consistently demonstrate.
Grades: What you will see
Instead of a number eg 73% on each assignment you may see any of the following, just a comment, a comment and a level of achievement , or a rubric that has been filled in by me to show the level of work they are completing. You may also see a √ or √- or √+ to show that you are meeting my expectations, less than, or more than what is expected on the assignment. During reporting periods, we will have a conference where each student has the chance to bring examples of their work and to explain based on that work what level of achievement they are consistently demonstrating. Based on that conversation and my determination we will assign a final grade.
Leadership And Personal Development (LAPD)
This course is about growth and development of you as a human. Showing up and turning in all assignments will get you a pass but grades and end of course recognition will be dependent on your ability to dive into the tasks that we are undertaking and the scale above.
Final grading based on: Self assessment, interviews with teacher, completion of work, participation, etc. on a contract grading model.

Work habit:
Work habits are reported in the comments of your report card as a reflection of the work you do in class and your attitude and behaviour. Below is the table from the student handbook explaining what "good" work habits look like.
